How do I reference a practice note in OSCOLA?
Answer
To reference a Practice Note, use this format:
author, │'title' │(Practice Note, │publishing body │date) │ <publishing body’s homepage web address> date accessed
Footnote example without a date:
Practical Law Dispute Resolution, 'The Attitude of the Courts to Mediation (England and Wales)' (Practice Note, Practical Law) <uk.practicallaw.tomasonreuters.com>accessed 23 April 2023.
Footnote example with a date:
The Auditing Practices Board, 'Audit of Financial Statements of Public Sector Bodies in the United Kingdom' (Practice Note 10 (Revised), The Financial Reporting Council Ltd October 2010) <https://www.frc.org.uk/getattachment/619c5214-f31c-4690-ac70-eb8ea5dc2921/PN-10-(Revised)-Audit-of-Financial-Statements-of-P.pdf> accessed 18 May 2023.
The entry in the bibliography is the same except that there’s NO full stop at the end.
Note:
If there is no individual author, use the organisation name (corporate author).
If there is no date on the practice note, use the last accessed date.
Cite the homepage web address of the publishing body.
