I have imported references from several databases. Can I check for duplicate records?

Answer

To check for duplicate records in EndNote go to the References menu and select Find duplicates. The screen will then show any records which EndNote considers to be duplicates so that you can check them and decide which to keep.

It is usually best to keep the older of the two records. This is because you may have used it in documents. A reference will be identified in Word by its record number - even if the new reference looks identical to the old one Word will not recognise it because it has a different number. If there is useful information in the newer record you can click and drag or copy and paste it into the older record.
