The author of the paper I want to cite uses a two part surname, what should it look like in APA style?

Write the author’s name exactly as it appears on the published work, including hyphenated surnames and two-part surnames and retain the author’s preferred capitalization. Here is an example:

In text:

van Hooft et al. (2025) states that 

OR

...(van Hooft et al., 2025).

In the reference list:

van Hooft, S., Berger, E., van Torenburg, C., & van Staa, A. (2025).
